Medium Simba Memory Box
Our Medium Memory Box is to create memories with a baby who has died at 14-24 weeks of pregnancy. The contents of this Memory Box have been chosen carefully, to create as many memories as possible with time spent together.
We will always treasure Finlay’s Memory Box, his little hand and footprints, his blanket of love and our pictures of him. He will always be part of our lives, but thanks to Simba we have something tangible to remind ourselves of him, something we can look at, something we can touch.”
There are many ways to use the items in our Memory Boxes and below are some suggestions.
The medium Memory Box includes the following contents:
- Two knitted teddies - all our handmade items are gifted with love by a Simba volunteer
- Knitted blanket
- Touched By You blankets - two identical blankets, one to place with baby, one to place with parents, when it is time to say goodbye, swap the blankets so baby has something that has been close to you and you have something that has been close to baby
- Crocheted butterfly - to stay with baby or to keep in your Memory Box
- Boxed Tealight and Candle Holder - to enable families to join the Global Wave of Light, held on 15th October each year at 7pm or any time they choose. Our tealight scent, ‘Eternal’, has been specially blended for Simba
- 2 Butterfly Charms
- Wooden Star - a star to keep plain, to write on, or decorate in any way to bring comfort. You can hang it up and display or keep it safe
- Just to Say card
- Birth Acknowledgement Certificate
- Photo Folder - taking photographs of your baby is one of the best ways to capture precious memories of your time with them. The important thing is to use this time to take as many photographs as you want
- Notebook with Pen - to write down memories, or ask others to choose a page and write a message/memory too
- Inkless hand and foot prints presentation folder - being involved in taking your baby’s prints is something you can do together with the support of staff, and each time you look at the prints, you will have memories of precious time together
- Clay Kit - to frame and decorate your baby’s hand and foot prints
- Baby soap and cotton pad - a precious time is to bath baby and wrap them in a towel and cuddle them dry
- Letter from a bereaved parent - to let you know you are not alone
- Meaning of Memory Box illustration by Lewis MacKenzie
- My Little Star book - to read to baby and their siblings
- Feedback card
- Information leaflet from Scottish Government regarding the Memorial Book of Pregnancy and Baby Loss Prior to 24 Weeks
