Jessica’s Story

Jacob was our first baby. The pregnancy was low risk and all was ‘normal’, so we were not expecting anything like this to happen.

“I caught covid at 29 weeks, however the symptoms were mild so no one was worried. 2 weeks later I noticed reduced movements, so we went in and were told those dreaded words ‘there is no heartbeat’. Jacob was delivered 2 days later, on 14th December 2021 at 31+2 weeks. He weighed 3 lbs 6 ounces and was 45cm long! That day was both heartbreaking and the best day of my life as I got to meet my baby boy.
We were given a Simba Memory Box and we treasure it until now. It helped us make memories such as the hand and foot prints, taking a lock of Jacob’s hair and there was a book inside too which we read to him. The box also came with matching blue bears, one for Jacob, one for us. We still sleep with Jacob’s blue bear as it’s the one that slept with him that very first night in hospital. We take our blue bear on holidays with us, which makes us feel like Jacob is there too.”
